Natural Investments Interviews Elyse Cherry: "Women Invested"

This fall, BCC partner Carrie Van Winkle of Natural Investments interviewed BCC CEO Elyse Cherry as a part of their "Women Invested" project. This project uses a series of interviews to highlight the stories and work of women leading in the socially responsible investing space to create positive, meaningful impact in our communities.

Catherine Dun Rappaport oversees efforts to understand and increase Boston Community Capital’s impact.  Catherine designs, conducts and disseminates findings from assessments of BCC initiatives.  She also leads a range of related performance measurement and management projects.  Catherine collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to share what she learns and to develop strategies for using knowledge to shape and enhance future work. 

As Strategic Initiatives Manager, Jennifer works to advance a number of strategic priorities across the organization. 

Prior to joining BCC, Jennifer was the National Worker Center Coordinator at the AFL-CIO where she developed and deepened strategic collaborations with community partners and supported state and federal policy efforts for low-wage workers. Jennifer has also worked on civic innovation initiatives with the City of Cambridge and policy research with the International Federation of Domestic Workers.  

Ashley joined Boston Community Capital and SUN in August of 2016. Prior to joining BCC, Ashley was a law fellow for the Honorable Robert B. Foster of the Massachusetts Land Court, where she worked on complex title, zoning, and mortgage issues. She graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2015, and received her bachelor’s degree from New York University in Economics and Urban Design & Architectural Studies. During law school, Ashley interned at Greater Boston Legal Services’ Housing Unit, working with homeowners facing foreclosure, and at the City of Waltham’s Law Department.

As a negotiator, Suzette works with individuals who have experienced financial difficulty and are facing foreclosure or eviction. She negotiates short sales and purchases of Real Estate Owned properties (REO’s) from mortgage servicers and lenders. These properties are then sold back to the occupants with a new, affordable mortgage.
